THE POWER OF WINDOWS TERMINAL COMMANDS

INTRODUCTION

Well !! Most of us know about the "CMD" .We use it to get an alternative for the GUI.It is fast and can do magical things. Some of those with which the begginner's play around are the commands for opening or closing or creating or deleting directories , copying files etc.
If you ask me , then a few decades back when it was all about the keyboard i.e. I mean to say that all that the homosapiens had was the CLI(Command line interface),they had to learn some commands but they could do crazy stuff!!
The windows terminal as far as i have learnt about it can do anything for you.

I cannot explain everything .One could just keep going when it comes to the commands

But I have taken an example of a very useful application of the terminal commands.I have studied the implementation of the same.

WE WILL NOW LEARN HOW TO CREATE A BOOTABLE USB DRIVE USING THE TERMINAL !!!!!(need more of them !)

STEP 1

WELL WE'LL HAVE TO OPEN IT UP,WON'T WE?
I think the below images will make it clear.

12-2-Running-Command-Prompt-As-Administrative.jpg

Now running it as administrator is important since you don't want the trouble of providing passwords again and again.
Some of them techies may directly try the key combination 'windows key+r' which automatically launches a task with administrative priviledges.

STEP 2

DISKPART!!WHAT IS THAT?
WAIT !! TAKE A DEEP BREATH !! DISKPART is just a disk partitioning utility used in the terminal. CASE CLOSED !!
So,assuming that you have not been distracted enough to not plug in your pen drive by this time with all it's data saved because you don't want to take the risk of getting it erased as we'll also format the pen drive in the process,TYPE 'DISKPART' IN THE TERMINAL
(Not a problem if you didn't understand the last line .Try reading it slowly.!!)

STEP 3

THE DISKPART COMMANDS !!
If you passed step 2 then you would have already opened the diskpart utility. Now stay calm and just type in the stuff written against the micro steps headings one by one.Well !! Actually those are diskpart commands that I'll explain along the way. :

MICRO STEP A: list disk

This will show the disks connected to your system along with their status , size , free space etc.Now carefully identify the pen drive because you probably don't want to end up with a bootable hard drive. Here it disk 1 which has about 3855 MB size.

MICRO STEP B: select disk 1

This selects the pen drive for all upcoming steps.

12-7-Type-select-Disk-1-And-Enter.jpg

MICRO STEP C: clean

It will erase all data from the pen drive.

12-8-Type-clean-And-Enter.jpg

MICRO STEP D: create partition primary

It will create a primary partition in the pen drive.Wait what?Don't be confused. The primary partition is that which holds all the boot file for the O.S. and that's why we are creating it !!

MICRO STEP E: select partition 1

This selects the primary partition created before for upcoming steps.

12-10-Type-select-partion-1-And-Enter.jpg

MICRO STEP F: format fs=ntfs quick

Well , ain't that creapy? But actaually it just formats your pen drive to the NTFS file system with the quick parameter prevents you from getting bored of waiting.

MICRO STEP G: active

This makes the partition active for booting whenver you would restart next after a little juice break maybe.
If this step is missed then the computer will not boot !!!!!!!

12-12-Type-active-And-Enter.jpg

MICRO STEP H: exit

Exits diskpart.

12-13-Type-exit-And-Enter.jpg

MICRO STEP I: exit

Finally, exits the terminal.

STEP 4

Extract a windows ISO archive and put all those file in the pen drive folder.

RESTART. BOOT TO PEN DRIVE. ENJOY !!

ENDING NOTE : SOMETHING I'D LIKE TO SAY

I tried hard to put in the most accurate and precise information as possible. But human always makes errors and that's how we learn . Those of you who got a hang of 'what the terminal can do for you' , please do not stop here. EXPLORE MORE ABOUT THE TERMINAL AND IT'S GREAT POWERS !!!!!!(need more of them !).
